La Candelaria is an extremely captivating neighbourhood, with colonial streets, colorful houses, lively environment, graffiti art, history and cool stories everywhere, that are awaiting for you to be uncover!

But 8 hours in one place is a lot… Trust us, is not! La Candelaria is the most important neighbourhood of Bogota. It is our historical district and also a political, religious, economic epicenter. Therefore, most of the landmarks are located there, plus it is full with cool hidden gems. In Snoopy Zebra Tours we are natural storytellers, true each one of us have a unique style, but we love to share our own personal stories, colombian past and present history and fun facts. So we will make sure you have a blast while exploring this area.

Meet us at the Bolivar Square, the most important plaza in Bogota. Here our storytelling beggins, understand the importance of this square and the buildings around it: Main Cathedral of Bogota, Lievano Palace, Congress and Justice Palace. After taking cool pictures, continue this journey through the 8th street, pass by the Santa Clara Church and Convent, currently a colonial museum with open art exhibitions. Continue until we reach the Antonio Nariño Palace (Presidential House) and San Agustin Temple, and hear all about the colonial times and the independence of Colombia. 

Visit Fragmentos, an anti-monument conceptualized by Doris Salcedo, an amazing Colombian artist. This is “a place of art and memory” for it was built by female victims of the conflict in Colombia, using melted guns delivered by the FARC to the UN after the peace agreement in 2016. Here, we will have a intimate talk about the present history of Colombia and what is next for us as Colombians after the signature of the peace agreement. We can’t wait to share it with you!  

Feeling like a rest? It’s time for our Cacao & Coffee Workshop and Tasting!
During this private tour, we will take a break of 1.5 hours and go to Cacao and Coffee House, a small shop located in the heart of La Candelaria founded by Cata and Beto, visionary entrepreneurs who want to bring up the awareness of Colombian Cacao to the level of Colombian Coffee. We co-created this workshop with them knowing that it is an enhancing experience to all travelers that want to know the beans that have made us famous around the globe. 

Throughout the private workshop you will learn about the story behind these products and what is the Colombian recipe to make them so special and desirable. You will try different sub-products of both coffee and cacao while learning about the process that takes place in the farm. Then, taste 2 different origins of cacao and enjoy a prehispanic cacao beverage prepared by our barista in the oldest brewing method. After, discover the subtlety of coffee while learning about the different brewing methods and how to prepare them, choose one of them and our barista will lead you step by step while you prepare it! Finally, sit back and enjoy a delicious coffee/cacao cocktail. The barista will be with you during the entire workshop ready to answer all your questions! 

After the Workshop, dive into the cobblestone streets, enjoy the cool vibes of La Candelaria, visit the Virgen del Carmen Sanctuary the only Gothic Catholic temple in the area. Stopover the Botero Museum which holds 123 pieces of Fernando Botero´s art. Get to know the story behind his success and understand why this artist and his point of view are so relevant.

We have you covered! Explore the Plaza del Chorro de Quevedo and the Embudo Street known for the cultural activities and cool lifestyle. Be amazed by the great graffiti art displayed in the upper part of the neighborhood and understand the positive impact it has created in many areas of the country.

Now is time for lunch, go to Origen Bistro, an awarded restaurant known for its unique approach to local gastronomy and our personal favourite restaurant to have traditional dishes. To really make it a Grand Walking Tour at La Candelaria we are just missing one place, The Gold Museum! Get an intimate view of our pre-hispanic cultures, why gold was so important for them, how was their relationship with this metal and what the figures and objects mean.

Finally, to end this private tour walk back to the Bolivar Square through the 7th street, full with street artist and local shops.
